Drawing Closer

There are these moments we move around driven by our emotions, our reasoning and experiences. We decide what we should do next relaying on our intellect. But at the end of the day, we find ourselves disappointed and broken by the decisions we made by ourselves. Why did we do that to ourselves? Why chose to listen to our unreliable swinging emotions over this faithful and all-knowing guide “The Holy spirit”? Here could be why we are so impatient sometimes and other times we are so narrow minded that our sight is limited to what is visible to our necked eye and not able to discern what God is talking about which is in the heavenly realm. Because of this thing we go astray from his will and his way.

When we move astray from the will of God and run away the Holy Spirit moves and destroys anything we hold unto tight which is our means of rebellion. God will destroy whatever he has to destroy to get our attention. Because he is merciful and loving to leave us to a comfort that will distract us from his will and soon destroy our lives. At last, after we leave our foolish ways and draw closer to him, we know him better than before. we won’t walk by the understanding we have about him before but with a deeper understanding.

“The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit; O Lord my God. When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.” (Jonna 2:5-6)
