We live in a world where everything has turned to the worst, a world were everything we ever do or say is assumed to have some kind of twisted evil agenda behind it. No matter what we speak it is somehow considered to be offensive to someone. But we know the truth is not a happy pill to swallow. It has always been bitter-sweet. The truth has the power to set free if anyone ever is willing in and surrender to be transformed by it. This truth has been consistent and never progressive through out the history of time even if the approach of addressing this truth has been evolving and changing with time the core concept of Truth has always been there. In this truth there is life, freedom, a joy& peace that are unshakable and above all else there is unconditional love in it.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Now we have said enough about the truth that is the root of our faith, now let’s see more about this love that is fully displayed through the life of Jesus Christ. When he lived in this earth for more than 3 years he has been preaching and sharing the kingdom of God with the world. He didn’t only just spoke about it but displayed it through his life. So, what was his life like but more of what was his heart like? What can we learn from him, the thing we have lost through the circumstances and changes we have gone through in time? Our hearts seem so far from his. We have an unreliable, wicked, inconsistent and deceitful heart. He is pure; we are greedy. He is peaceful; we are hassled. He is purposeful; we are distracted. He is pleasant; we are cranky. He is spiritual; we are earthbound. It is not an exaggeration to say it is not easier to even trust ourselves because we all know deep down how change but unlike ours his heart is full of humility, compassion, love and unshaken no matter what.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
Unlike other times we are divided in a lot of different and more than the things that unify us there are millions of things that divide us. So even when it comes to showing kindness to others it isn’t easier for most of us to sympathize nor show compassion to anyone who is not part of our circle. That is because if any of this people are in different side of the line when it comes to our beliefs, way of life or lifestyle we are most likely to see them as an enemy, so we are not bothered to even do anything unless it somehow affects us in a certain way. We are selective to show forgiveness nor compassion and judgmental to anything that looks different. But Christ had a different heart, it was full of compassion, every time he looked at a crowd or a person, he had a heart that to reach out to them and free them through the truth, the good news of the kingdom of God. On top of that he shows forgiveness and sympathy to those who keep walking in darkness moving astray from the truth just like lost sheep. If we ever come to him, he is willing to forgive us and cleath us from our sin completely. Our uncleanness doesn’t make him despise us; it doesn’t make him move away from us in disgust.
“When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34
Why do we keep distracted from what has always been Infront of us why do we keep leaving the truth behind and modify a new one that fits our ideas of what it is supposed to look like? I think lately we have shifted our focus from Christ, we are supposed to fix our eyes on him ‘cause every time we turn our eyes from the cross, the pure love shown to us we find ourselves drowning in the hatred, wickedness this world is rooted upon just like how peter started to drown the moment he shifted his sight from Jesus to the raging sea. Jesus had a focused heart, he was so committed to the purpose he was supposed to fulfil on earth, he came to save what was lost and he did everything he was supposed to do even to the point of giving his life for it.
The truth has always been there unshaken, unchanging, consistent through the ages with the power to transform lives, it is us who keep dropping it again and again and now that is what is happening, we are drawn towards being the Pharisees Jesus called hypocrites because instead of the truth transforming our heart, we keep using it as a weapon to bring others down, to serve our needs. We are like earthbound spirits unable to cross to the after life stuck in a vicious circle. Unless we leave it all behind all those things, we think we already know and come before him with a humble heart If not it is just gone be another tragedy were we bury the treasure hidden deep inside while everyone starves to death longing to find a simple but powerful truth that could set them free.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14
